Finding alternative work for young prostitutes on the streets of Yaoundé
The main objective of Group Rehab is to suggest alternative ways of making a living to Young prostitutes to enable them to get off the streets.
This group of women have gradually established a support structure of weekly meetings in which they could share experiences. They have created a climate of confidence. The young women and their hosts (all women) now relate like a family.
Specific Objectives
To help the girls to regain self esteem and self confidence
To provide education about their health and, in particular, AIDS
To provide medical assisstance to mothers and children
To support them in the realisation of a personal project that would enable them to make a living by other means
To promote a familiar atmosphere in which the young women feel cared-for and understand how valued they are by the rest of the group
People who Benefit
Young women working as prostitutes
Group Rehab is financially independent from Foyer de l’Espérance and their methods are different, but they like to be associated with the Home as both girls and boys live on the streets..
